The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released the Provisional Selection List for 3478 posts of Constable in J&K Police (Home Department) advertised under Notification No. 01 of 2024 dated 16 July 2024, for Item Nos. 01, 02, 05 and 06. The selection list has been published following multiple stages of examinations, physical tests, and document verification conducted over the past several months.
According to the official notification, a total of 4002 posts were initially referred by the Police Headquarters to JKSSB. After adjustments and final vacancy assessment, 3478 posts were considered for provisional selection across UT cadre, Divisional Cadres of Jammu and Kashmir, and Specialized Forces such as SDRF and Armed/IRP Battalions.

Recruitment Process and Examination Timeline
The written OMR-based examination for these posts was conducted on 01 December 2024, and the corresponding result/score sheet was declared on 15 January 2025. This was followed by Physical Standard and Physical Endurance Tests (PST/PET) held in the months of August, September, and October 2025.
Following the physical tests, JKSSB conducted Document Verification across both Jammu and Srinagar centres during October and November 2025. A supplementary verification round for left-out candidates took place on 12 and 17 November 2025.

A Selection Committee, constituted via Office Order No. 358-SSB of 2025 dated 19 November 2025, scrutinized all documents, eligibility criteria and merit parameters before preparing the Provisional Selection List.
Conditions Attached to the Provisional List
The Board has emphasized that the list is purely provisional and subject to:
- The outcome of any ongoing court cases or writ petitions
- The result of any pending inquiries involving selected candidates
- Modifications arising out of objections filed by applicants
